Will Djibouti ever be united with Somalia?

Postby cashmere » Thu Oct 30, 2014 5:34 am

This is a question that I've wondered for sometime. I just find it inconceivable that these two regions, that share the same history, language and culture, who are practically made up of the exact same people, could be permanently separated as two different nations. Lets be real here, Djibouti is a territory that was specifically carved out by French and Anglo-Saxons to serve their own military and strategic needs. There is no reason why it should be separated from mainland Somalia. Djibouti is a very valuable territory and if developed could be an extremely lucrative source of income for the government, not to mention tourism, it's really a beautiful place. Government could also really squeeze the US/Europe for rent money in leasing those military bases, which instead goes to the coffers of a corrupt family.

I understand completely that the time is just not right for talk of unification, as Somalia itself is in shambles and is actually being assisted by Djibouti, and not to mention we already have rogue regions claiming secession that we need to deal with. But I want to ask you guys what the future holds, for a relatively stable, middle-income Somalia, what do typical Somalis generally think? Does everyone assume unification is inevitable? Or do Somalis just accept Djibouti as a different country and that is that?

kkkkkk nayaa u talyaani reer konfuur folks cant deal with rape and green lines inside galkacyo u idiot. why would somaliland let alone djibouti nfd and kilil 5 want to unite with barbaric animals such as the people of the south aka somalia italiana. its so crazy that parts of somalia italiana itself e.g. the langaab jeberti shoe polishers inside pirateland and jubba admin wants to break away since they fear being abused by the hutu hawiye glue sniffers.

having said that, i would like there to be a union between djibouti, somaliland and parts of kilil 5 (hawd) to start with then once the faqashnimo is wiped out maybe the rest of kilil 5 and also nfd can join our union BUT SOMALIA ITALIANA CANNOT JOIN UNDER ANY CIRCUMSTANCES

Djibouti is too far gone. Less then 50% of the population speak Somali as of now.

The rest speak Ajanabi, French, and Ethiopian. Maybe 15yrs ago it would've been possible, but not right now....and it's probably gonna get worse.

The Afars would not be pleased with it, but we can start a referendum there, not like back in the days when it was rigged by the Afars and French. The French expelling thousands of Somalis before the referendum reached the polls. In the future we can make it work. It will be inevitable for Djibouti, such a small country to not get sucked in by Somalia. It's like Russia and Crimea , eventually as the country gradually get's stronger and our media institutes get bigger and wider. We can fuel the pan-Somalism in them.

Why would Djbouti want to join Somalia? Somalia is basically a shit hole lol tf?

On the other hand people from djbouti have no morals and dhaqan they just bum lick the french and ethiopians so maybe it's a good thing we both stay away from each other. We're messed up and they're basically foreign whores lol.

Somalis in the north should do something usefull and join together (Djibouti-Somaliland) thats the only way to keep ethiopian influence away.
