That might work out well for us. With intelligent leaders we can pander to each side and play them against one another...oh who am I kidding? We're screwed. It looks like the world is already in a cold war. And if the West (the US & Western Europe) and the East (Russia & China) do not put their differences aside (which seems very unlikely given the global political turmoil and the worsening strive for natural resources) and the likelihood of a Republican US president, there might be a 3d world war within a decade or so, a more devastating one than previous 2 combined.
Maryooleys, buy a land in baadiyaha back home and pack your shit already.

All the other sources are vulnerable to US disruption. The US controls the seas.Gurey, what's up with this $400 billion deal with China I keep hearing that is one-sided in China's favour. What will the Chinese do in return? Surely there are other markets for oil and gas, outside of EU? What about South America, Africa, Black market?
Also how does a supposedly socialist/communist country have a Central Bank that is not under state control? Unless Russia is no longer communist and like China, it's just rhetoric to justify autocracy and one-party politics.
I feel its all by design...People really went overboard w/the Ukraine stuff. It just pushed Russia into China's hands.
China/Russia could never agree on satisfying terms for oil, so China had to scour the whole world to look for resources but kept getting kicked like Sudan, Libya, places in East Africa etc.
But when Russia had no choice and was faced with sanctions, all of a sudden China got a major boost in energy security since Russia was forced to make deals to sustain their economy.
It's basically Europe/Germany that is losing out, and a lot of German industrialists are pissed.

The gold standard was a tool of imperial control setup by londonLooks like Russia may be the first nation in the world to back their currency with the gold standard.....this defies the laws of current world. A new type of war has emerged perhaps ?
