It's time Somalia had a Female President.

Postby Julkimi » Mon Dec 08, 2014 2:16 am

I truly think a woman who studied in the west would run the country better than the current men. I hope more women would campaign for a Presidential seat in Somalia. Sadly nobody would vote for her because Somalis back home are still stuck in 1600s. It's time for a change. It's time for a woman to be running Somalia.

I've said this many times.

There was a woman campaigning for next presidency, but I haven't heard anything about her recently. Hope she's still trucking hard.

i wonder why none of the really educated females go back home and run for president. did a male who was educated and raised in the west ever go home and run for president?

Women are usually shunned from higher level politics. They have tried before, but you don't hear about it because of the level of discouragement and pressure to be quiet.

Sado Ali (AUN) being a MP was intense, but she was well loved and well...That's rare. There are other women in politics, but the glass ceiling is real.

Would a women who studied in the west do a better job than a women who graduated from a university in Somalia? Would a women who was born out side of Somalia do a better job than a women born and raised in Somalia?

This.

OP your post stinks of Western exceptionalism and the fuck do you mean by we're "stuck back in the 1600s"? You need to do some serious decolonisation of the mind, yup you do.

And fyi liberal, 'lean in' feminist sentiment is boring. Radicalise yourself.

I, for one, welcome our new Somali female overlords. Which all-female militia do I send the qaaraan to?

Evol and TKS: glad we are on the same page.
Prince: yes a WOMAN who studied in the west would do a great job. A WOMAN who graduated from University of Somalia is not on the same level as a woman who studied in the west because of Education, Socially aware of other cultures. Somalis back home are sheltered and most of them are ignorant about what's going on in the world.

I don't know if I can find a ladder tall enough to help the Xaliimo A Team out of their ivory tower. Tolow, will the unwashed female masses last another day without Ms. Gender Studies PhD's help? Dayuusbara's Burden.

I agree that homegrown Somali women politicians would be better tuned to the existing realities on the ground.
Of course educated Somali's with technical experience overseas would be needed.
However, it's not a matter of either/or, Somalia going forward is gonna need every resource available to it.

Julki....you seem more chilled today.
