Floyd Mayweather calls out Manny Pacquiao

Postby Twist » Sat Dec 13, 2014 2:03 pm

That will be an interesting, if not the most interesting fight in recent history. Very likely Manny will respond to the challenge, since he kept calling Mayweather out for awhile.
Pound-for-pound king Floyd Mayweather Jr. has had precious little to say about the fight the public has demanded for years, a bout with Manny Pacquiao -- until Friday night.

Mayweather said during a Showtime interview that he wants to fight Pacquiao next and wants the fight to be May 2, the Cinco de Mayo weekend that Mayweather has regularly fought on.

"We are ready. Let's make it happen. May 2. Mayweather versus Manny Pacquiao. Let's do it," Mayweather said in the interview in San Antonio, where his promotional company was putting on a boxing card.

In the days before Pacquiao dropped Chris Algieri six times in a near-shutout decision to retain his welterweight title Nov. 22, he and Top Rank promoter Bob Arum launched a verbal offensive in an effort to kick-start the pressure on Mayweather.

Pacquiao even starred in a Foot Locker commercial mocking Mayweather's supposed reluctance to face him in what would be by far the richest fight in boxing history.

Friday night's interview included Mayweather's first extended remarks on the prospect of the fight in quite some time, and it was the first time he directly said he wanted to fight Pacquiao next and mentioned a specific date.

^ Libix, if you read the comments in that link I posted above, some of the commenters are saying (I didn't read the whole article or watched the clip fully) that he's still putting forward some silly conditions, which means he is not still confident and might change his story later to back out. lol

Until they sign the deal officially it's still talk. Plus, the day he mentioned is set for another big fight so I don't know.

^ 1man, this is a highly anticipated fight and hard to predict who will win so you can't really easily underestimate each of them.

Twist, in terms of fighting IQ there have never been many fighters smarter than FLoyd. He can adopt to any style of fighting and still find a way to prevail, his record says it not I.

Let me try to explain three things: speed, skill, and reflexes.

Floyd edges Manny in skill and reflexes. Having said that, Manny is probably quicker than Floyd but here is the real difference in this fight that a lot people don't pick up or get confused is that Manny doesn't have the excellence of boxing skill set Floyd has, but he's one hell of a fighter I give him that.

Manny wants to brawl but Floyd sticks to boxing, primarily counter punching and probably the best defense in Boxing. Manny keeps coming in and repeatedly getting met with Floyd's pin point accurate counter punches, there is no one better in Boxing than Floyd. This continues until Floyd realizes that Manny is slowing down and stand in front of him. Then Floyd plants his feet and eats into Manny's body and face until the end of the fight.

Floyd's too smart and there is that that advantage of never losing a fight.

I admit, I hardly know anything about boxing but watch whatever I can whenever I can. Having said that,

This continues until Floyd realizes gets Manny to slowing down and stand in front of him. Then Floyd plants his feet and eats into Manny's body and face until the end of the fight.
that part was funny. It's like you watched the fight before it even takes place & are narrating the event scene by scene. lol

Whatever the outcome, one thing still in people's minds is the fact that Manny kept calling Floyd out for years and Floyd avoided fighting him with many excuses. But still I am sure it will be the most interesting boxing match in recent history when (and if) it happens.

Lol, its because i been watching the two of them for so long its clear in my head how their strategies will be.

One is a fighter, brawler and the other is a skilled Boxer who relies on his defense and accurate counter punches.

Pacman =/= Maidana

I really wanna see this fight. I know the ratings will go off the roof, people of all walks of life will watch this, possibly the biggest rivalry since Thrilla in Manila.
