Views on Tattoos?

Postby KnowThySelf23 » Wed Dec 17, 2014 10:05 am

Idk if it is haram or not, because i see a lot of people arguing about it.
though I'm not muslim i don't want it to be looked down upon. i wanted to get for so long, but i was afraid of the stigma that comes with it in the somali comunities.
so, my question was....what is your opinion of tattoos? and do you know or ever heard of a somali that got one? (and if you have one yourself please tell me about your experiences.)

All answers (except trolls) are greatly appreciated :)

Doodles emblazoned in permanent green ink always looked pretty low class to me.

Wait, u said u are not Muslim, but some how you are afraid to get tattoos because of what Somali people would think of you?

You are correct, the Somali community would shun you if have tattoos. In their mind, you are either a convicted criminal or Qof Aduunka ka dhacay.

LOL. What is the point of leasing Islam if you are not going to indulge in all the things it prohibits? I thought that was the reason?

The majority of Muslims consider permanent tattoos to be haram, based on an oral tradition (hadith) of Nabi Muhammad (s.a.w.)

Recorded by Bukhari: "It was narrated that Abu Juhayfah (may Allah be pleased with him) said: “The Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said 'cursed the one who does tattoos, and the one who has a tattoo done.'”

People who accept Islam who have tattoos don't need to get rid of them as all sins are forgiven when taking upon shahada and a new life as a Muslim. I've seen plenty of new Muslims esp in the inner city who have tats.

Somalis have been tatting themselves up for a while now. The guys generally will tat themselves on the arms or chest, while the xalimos will write random nonsense on their sagging naasos

@Fah: thank you for the response! when you say inner city, do you mean somalia?

@meth idk if your trolling, but I've hardly seen tatted up somalis, especially not n the obvious places like arms..maybe somewhere that can be hidden with clothes.

I think visible tattoos on a girl are a bit degenerate but if you're going to get one, at least ask for an inconspicuous placement.

Try getting a job with those kinda tattoos. Most employers now ask you if you have a visible tattoos if you are going to be interacting with customers or the public.

Remember, they are permanent, once you get em there is no way to remove them.
