What do you think the OnStar system uses to phone home?

Now that you have that firmly in mind, how good do you suppose the mobile telephone service is over an ocean?

There are satellite telephone services available, as well as other two way satellite communications services. Read that as expensive. I suppose an air carrier could contract with such services to maintain constant data links with their fleets, even while in flight. I bet not many of them do it, though. Expensive, remember?
