Personally, I have never heard of Pablo Escobar type Somali drug kingpin anywhere in Canada. Most of them are, generally speaking, street level drug pushers. Having said that though, according to reports, for the better part of a decade now, Skinnies in two major towns of Calgary and Edmonton in the Western Canadian province of Alberta, have been gaining ground in the drug trade. In fact, after short tariff war, the Somalis there have managed to pushed out two of the most violent and longest established dealers in the area, mainly of Chinese/Vietnamese descendants. Today, it is believed that Skinnies in conjunction with some major biker gangs are pretty much in control of the Alberta drug trade.
