If removing Arabic from being an official language will instill in us a national identity I'm all for it. But alas, there is no such cure. As for Arabic I see no threat it poses to Somali, in fact I believe we should strengthen that tie to the Arabic language.

That's because you are Jaberti, Somalinimada is not that deeply entrenched. I find your words treasonous.

Somalinimo iyo other pan ethnical ideas are so last century. It didn't work for us, the Arabs, Germans, Slavs, Turks, Koreans, etc. If you really want Somalis to survive you can't bring them in opposition with their Arabness.

I'm not! In fact this angst seems to be visible in you kids. A Somali walking in any Somali city doesn't feel an identity crisis when they see a store sign in Arabic. And to be frank I'd rather see that than the terrible English signs that truly feels out of place.

PO, I thought we've already established that most Somalis can't read, write nor speak arabic (the Qur'an doesn't count), so all an arabic store sign would do is alienate people. We are not arabs neither are we culturally related to arabs. Our closest cultural ties are with other Horn groups like Oromo and Afar. Please stop begging it, it's embarrassing.

Slave of Johnson, you sound like a broken record. You are neither witty nor original. Please stfu.

95% of Somalis booty clap their way into threads when "Arab" is mentioned.

Somalis are only Muslims because Islam started in Arabia. If Islam began in the Congo Basin, Somalis would still be worshipping cows

You see how Liquid became offended by my comments

PerfectOrder, most of my friends were Arabs growing up. Up to 80%. I don't hate Arabs. I hate Arab beggars like yourselves.

95% being a statistic you came up with by surveys and studies done on all Somali people or something you pulled out of your arse as a way to denigrate a people you hate yet are constantly talking about?

Stop plucking stats out of air to justify your argument. The only people who claim to be Arab are Darood, Isaaq and the Sheikhaal who live with them.

That leaves, the rest of Dir, Hawiye, Digil iyo Mirifle and even the other small qabiils all of who do not claim Arab ancestry. Marka Somalida kala baro or don't speak on the subject. As a Hawiye I am offended that you would say "Somalis claim to be Arab" :wtf:

We can have another conversation on why certain qabiils claim it but you can't start that discussion under the wrong premise. This is a very localised problem, don't extrapolate to everyone else. Even on SNet you will see plenty of Darood (haven't seen Isaaq do it tbh) distance themselves from what they see as a myth.

Quit hating on Somalis waryaa
