If removing Arabic from being an official language will instill in us a national identity I'm all for it. But alas, there is no such cure. As for Arabic I see no threat it poses to Somali, in fact I believe we should strengthen that tie to the Arabic language.

Stop plucking stats out of air to justify your argument. The only people who claim to be Arab are Darood, Isaaq and the Sheikhaal who live with them.

That leaves, the rest of Dir, Hawiye, Digil iyo Mirifle and even the other small qabiils all of who do not claim Arab ancestry. Marka Somalida kala baro or don't speak on the subject. As a Hawiye I am offended that you would say "Somalis claim to be Arab"

We can have another conversation on why certain qabiils claim it but you can't start that discussion under the wrong premise. This is a very localised problem, don't extrapolate to everyone else.
