When it comes to alcohol, it does not matter since jaad has fcked somalis in the head. One mind altering substance is another man's pastime

GAMER

Even though we sometimes beef over Somaliland and whatnot, he seems like a cool dude.

Alcohol might not be the problem, there might be an underlying cause. Studies have shown that Alcohol is self therapy for a lot of men because they usually do not talk about their problems like women.

I know a dude, who's the most intelligent Somali I know. MENSA type intelligence and his score could probably uplift the overall Somali IQ of 67 (severe retardation)

He scored 2.0 on our equivalent of GCE which is the highest score and he was an A student. On top of that he came from the motherland recently as a teenager but unfortunately he saw some shit a teenager shouldn't see along his tahriib route and when he was about to start Uni, he fell into a depression and ever since he's been self medicating with Alcohol and drugs. Drinking every single day. We've tried everything but until he realizes his problems you can't do anything and it's unfortunate. With all that potential it's sad to know he won't last long.

If he was from an industrialized nation he wouldn't have to Tahriib and they would take advantage of his brain capacity and make sure both he and the country benefits, like in Israel.

The problem with Somalis is that everything is taboo. Talking about your problems is taboo ("Waa nin jilicsan"), getting professional help is taboo ("Hebel wuu waalanyahay"). Our society is so fucked up that you have to do what you have to and many resort to Alcohol and once again you'll hear the condemnation of the holier than thou Somali community " Waa sakhraan/isbiirtoole"). :meles:

This could be one of Advo's "I beat up my dad and kicked my ayeeyo out the house" humorous-kaftan threads; or it could very well be that he's talking about himself.

SWIM:
Someone Who Isn't Me. Most people use this abbreviation when telling some story about them doing something unsavoury, to avoid reprimand.
Acronym meaning: Someone Who Isn't Me
But general use indicates that it is indeed the same person.
Or it could be both.

Regardless, no shame in fighting an addiction.

Drinking khamro is and was very common in the Muslim world. Some of the Saxaabah and numerous tabiceen used to partake on a regular basis. I would even to go far as to the say that for hundreds of years, drinking khamro was the norm among elite circles(Ummayads, Abbasid, Ottomans etc) as well as the masses. There was even an entire genre of poetry known as khamriyaat. Doesn't get more mainstream than that. Of course, drinking khamro didn't happen in a vacuum. There were, how to put this politely, other "activities" that would go on while the Hennessy was flowing, but that'll take us off topic. Just wanted to mention this because there are some folk here who are laboring under the delusion that we somehow have a "higher moral standing" than non-muslims. As our khamro-drinking history clearly shows, we don't.

So, that's that. Leftist's history lesson of the day.
