O you who have believed, protect yourselves and your families from a Fire whose fuel is people and stones, over which are [appointed] angels, harsh and severe; they do not disobey Allah in what He commands them but do what they are commanded.

sadaqa allahu cadiim.

I absolutely love this one.

Ayat al Kursi
- آية الكرسي -
the Verse of the Throne:

"Allah! There is no god but He - the Living, The Self-subsisting, Eternal. No slumber can seize Him Nor Sleep. His are all things In the heavens and on earth. Who is there can intercede In His presence except As he permitteth? He knoweth What (appeareth to His creatures As) Before or After or Behind them. Nor shall they encompass Aught of his knowledge Except as He willeth. His throne doth extend Over the heavens And on earth, and He feeleth No fatigue in guarding And preserving them, For He is the Most High. The Supreme (in glory)."

I don't have favourite verses, however I do have a favourite surah. Which is Al-Fatiha!

Say, "O My servants who have transgressed against themselves [by sinning], do not despair of the mercy of Allah . Indeed, Allah forgives all sins. Indeed, it is He who is the Forgiving, the Merciful."

By the Dawn;

And by the ten nights;

And by the even and the odds

And by the night when it departs,

Is there not in it an oath for man of understanding?

Have you not seen, what did your Lord with Aad?

The people of Iram excessively tall,

The like of whom have not been created in cities.

And with Thamud who hewed out rocks in the valley.

And with Firawn (Pharoah) who pilloried.

Those who transgressed in the cities.

And spread mischief therein

Therefore your Lord let down upon them the whip of torment with force.

Undoubtedly, nothing is absent from the sight of Your Lord.

But man, when his Lord tries him and honours him and bestows favour on him, he says, 'my Lord hashonoured me'.

But when He tries him and straitens his livelihood, he says, 'my Lord has disgraced me.

Not so, but you do not honour the orphan.

And you urge not one another to feed the poor,

And devour the heritage of others greedily,

And you love wealth exceedingly.

Yes, when the earth is completely broken into pieces.

And the Command of your Lord comes and also the angels in rows after rows,

And Hell is brought that day, on that day man will think, but now where is the time for thinking?

He will say, O would that I had sent forward some good works in my life.

So on that day none torments any like His torment.

And nor anyone binds like His binding.

'O you peaceful soul.'

Return to your Lord well pleased with Him, and He well pleased with you.

So, enter you among My chosen bondmen.

And come to My Garden.

Allahu laaa ilaaha illaa huwal haiyul qai-yoom; laa taakhuzuhoo sinatunw wa laa nawm; lahoo maa fissamaawaati wa maa fil ard; man zallazee yashfa'u indahooo illaa be iznih; ya'lamu maa baina aideehim wa maa khalfahum; wa laa yuheetoona beshai 'immin 'ilmihee illa be maa shaaaa; wasi'a kursiyyuhus samaa waati wal arda wa la ya'ooduho hifzuhumaa; wa huwal aliyyul 'azeem

One of my favorite ayahs, with a Sudaisi recitation.

He who created seven heavens in layers. You do not see in the creation of the Most Merciful any inconsistency. So return your vision to the sky; do you see any breaks?

Image

And then return your vision twice again. Your vision will return to you humbled while it is fatigued.

Those who sustain the Throne (of Allah) and those around it Sing Glory and Praise to their Lord; believe in Him; and implore Forgiveness for those who believe: "Our Lord! Thy Reach is over all things, in Mercy and Knowledge. Forgive, then, those who turn in Repentance, and follow Thy Path; and preserve them from the Penalty of the Blazing Fire!

"And grant, our Lord! that they enter the Gardens of Eternity, which Thou hast promised to them, and to the righteous among their fathers, their wives, and their children! For Thou art , the Exalted in Might, Full of Wisdom

"And preserve them from (all) ills; and any whom Thou dost preserve from ills that Day,- on them wilt Thou have bestowed Mercy indeed: and that will be truly (for them) the highest Achievement".

These three verses really put me in a good mood, to think that somewhere that I cannot imagine nor comprehend there are angels praying for those who repent constantly,Allah Al Waduud, Allah Al Tawwaab

The next three verses are chilling,

Image

The Unbelievers will be addressed: "Greater was the aversion of Allah to you than (is) your aversion to yourselves, seeing that ye were called to the Faith and ye used to refuse."

They will say: "Our Lord! twice hast Thou made us without life, and twice hast Thou given us Life! Now that we have recognised our sins: Is there anyway out of this!?"

(The answer will be:) "This is because, when Allah was invoked as the Only (object of worship), ye did reject Faith, but when partners were joined to Him, ye believed! the Command is with Allah, Most High, Most Great!"

NOTE: When people think of Shirk they think of statues and things made of stone! Modern idolatory involves worship of the self, and it is shirk in it's absolute right, and there are many people who put their nafs before Allah yet they say they believe in Allah, but when they are called to abandon their nafs and worship Allah in humility and in oneness they dislike the thought of it but they confine God to 5 daily prayers and other than that, it's " there's a time and place for that", remember this, shirk isn't something that is always material, the Qur'an is talking to us now....

Image

The Day when they shall come forth [from death], with nothing of themselves hidden from God. To whom does sovereignty belong to on that day? To Allah, The One, the Irresistible!

I have many... but the ayat which first popped into my head was ayat 33 from Surah Fussilat

(And who is better in speech than one who invites to Allah and does righteousness and says 'indeed I am of the Muslims')

I have always liked Ayaatul Kursi since I was taught it in Malcaamad.

Some of my favs:

Image
Allah is the Light of the heavens and the earth. The example of His light is like a niche within which is a lamp, the lamp is within glass, the glass as if it were a pearly [white] star lit from [the oil of] a blessed olive tree, neither of the east nor of the west, whose oil would almost glow even if untouched by fire. Light upon light. Allah guides to His light whom He wills. And Allah presents examples for the people, and Allah is Knowing of all things. [Surah Nur 24:35]

Image
Do you not see that Allah drives clouds? Then He brings them together, then He makes them into a mass, and you see the rain emerge from within it. And He sends down from the sky, mountains [of clouds] within which is hail, and He strikes with it whom He wills and averts it from whom He wills. The flash of its lightening almost takes away the eyesight. [Surah Nur 24:43]

Image
It is He who shows you lightening, [causing] fear and aspiration, and generates the heavy clouds. [Surah Ra'd 13:12]

Image
And the thunder exalts [ Allah ] with praise of Him - and the angels [as well] from fear of Him - and He sends thunderbolts and strikes therewith whom He wills while they dispute about Allah ; and He is severe in assault. [Surah Ra'd 13:13]

Image
Say, "If the sea were ink for [writing] the words of my Lord, the sea would be exhausted before the words of my Lord were exhausted, even if We brought the like of it as a supplement." [Surah Kahf 18:109]

Image
If We had sent down this Qur'an upon a mountain, you would have seen it humbled and coming apart from fear of Allah . And these examples We present to the people that perhaps they will give thought. [Surah Hashr 59:21]
