Almost all opposition groups in 2007 rejected the idea of invading Somalia (except the Lidetu party) saying it is just a pretext and the then Somali government was not a national threat to Ethiopia. Many ordinary Ethiopians never supported the invasion and don't approve the continues intervention of Ethiopia in Somali affairs.

Doesnt matter Ethiopia has been invading and meddling since the 90s causing major damage as a result. The intervention was inevitable in 2007-08 considering their policies in place in combatting Al itihad.
If you Ethiopians really want to end the problems between the two countries
1) heavily limit your interference in the affairs of Somalia.
2) fully democratize the country and as a result give the choice to the citizens of kilil 5 to decide their own fate. Like England did with Scotland, through the ballot box.

Im sure centuries old amnosity between the countries would end - which is sometimes im certainly in favour off. Any deal less than this would be inadequate.
