Canadian and American born somalis come in

Postby AvidThinkerr101 » Sat Mar 28, 2015 9:44 pm

I didnt mention the ones in europe and arabian countries because their a different dynamic.

Do the canadian and american born somalis view themselves as american or Canadian? are you loyal to your country? would you fight for your country? i noticed a lot of you take it for granted and act like your a foreigner. when it is just as much your home as somalia is.

Yes of course. The country that saved me from civil war, famine, religious extremism, illiteracy, unemployment, poverty, E.Coli in my drinking water and hopelessness will get my sacrifice.

But I will join the Somalis if they plan on fighting the Xabashi /Kenyan

I am,

I consider myself Somali before Canadian. I'm not patriotic at all. It's easy not to be though when you've had the experiences I've had growing up here.

My only patriotism is for the Horn :som:

I was born in the US before the war. However, I was raised in Canada. Its difficult for me to identify with the American melting pot idea. I wasn't raised there either, so it hasn't molded me. I'd say I'm more Canadian, given my hyperapologetic ways. I'm obviously Somali and I don't find my multiple nationalities to be in conflict. Its very transnational; traverses conventional boundaries of nation states. I would never fight for any of those nations. However, I wouldn't mind living or working in Somaliland.

America the greatest Nation in this world is my place of refuge that provides me safety, schooling, work and other opportunities so I do appreciate this country and I do consider myself American to a certain extent but home(Somaliland) will always be in my heart and hopefully will be the place I will retire and spend my last moments on this planet.

Ah, so thats what you mean by both American/Canadian. Nice (that you wouldn't mind living back home).

I'm European so yeha, Scew the US, Canada seems nice tho. Wouldn't mind moving to Vancouver or somewhere out there.
