Obviously the diet is a lot different and they get a lot less calories.
Furthermore, there is difference between those that live in the rural areas as compared to urban.
Regular showers, more food, less sun etc makes a big difference.

Most of the year they're hungry, thirsty, tired and dusty.

i just hate when Somalis talk shit about their own culture and people. some of us have been brainwashed to the point where our brains are automatically programmed to think that everything we Somalis do has some defects, outdated, uncivilized, barbaric and everything the western society does is perfectly fine. it is unfortunate that we are so guillable and really lack critical thinking skills.

coming back to some of the comments here, it is perfectly find for a healthy girl to get married at age 15 if all parties involved agree upon it. what many of you don't know is that many states in the US, it is legal for a girl under the age of 18 to get married if her parents agree to it.

forced marriages and fgm is something we all need to stand against and say no. those two horrible things have nothing to do with our religion and only ignorants with little or no education justify and force them onto their daughters.

Be wise. think critically and stop criticizing everything about your culture. every culture has bad and good practices. don't put someone else's culture above yours. if you do, you are saying "i am dumb" and they are "smart".

petite girls are not healthy, when I see a pregnant skinny woman I feel sorry for the baby it looks so uncomfortable. Not to say fat women are better, just something in the middle with attractive curves would be nice.

I love most part of my culture, and I neither want to copy cadaans or anyone else. But unless you go to Somalia and see things for your eyes, you'll never know the reality.

Firstly, MOST 15 year olds in Somalia are not built for babies at all! It is possible, but it would be a struggle. They are usually slim and have a narrow waist and just look like a child. I've spoken to soooo many people, and they all say it is a struggle for these young girls. Pure rafaad. Midwives complain that some of these girls their bones have not even expanded. And most importantly a good lot haven't even got their period.

I for one support 18+ marriages, but obviously very difficult to implement that in a struggling nation like Somalia, even more so, I would rather marriage than zina? So, maybe they should be allowed marriage but told to wait on for babies.

Men who lust after young girls, I don't have anything against, but that is only if she looks old enough and built to handle a man.

I personally believe if the state for health reasons (by looking at medical records) says the marriage age is 16 or 18 then it should be fine and halal. Surely if we say we'll review it case by case then it'll be beauracratic nightmare? But of course certain cases should be handled separately.
