Omar Al-Bashir and Hafez Assad are the last nationalist leaders living in the Arab world. The others - such as Saddam Hussein and Mu'amar Qaddafi - have already assassinated, Mohamed Morsi was overthrown and imprisoned. Therefore, under the circumstances, Omar is doing good.
With respect to his election, it is not really different than the election in the West. Each one of them is prefixed, so no reason why the election of Omar Al-Bashir would cause a concern? In the USA, a foreign leader, Netanyahu, can come to the USA, without the invitation of the president of USA, he lectured the US Congress, and he has told them to oppose their own sitting president (Obama). They obliged and forced their own president to bring any agreement with Iran to the floor of US Congress so they can vote for it. The question is, what is the point of having an election in the USA if a foreign leader can dictate his wish on their legislative branch and sideline their own sitting president?
