The importance of intentions

Postby *Proud_Muslimah* » Sat Nov 05, 2005 2:37 am

Assalamu Alaikum,

Abu Hurayrah (Radeallahu'Anhum) narrated that Prophet Muhammad (salla Allaahu 'alayhi wa salaam) said:
"Allah, the exalted in Might, and the Ever-Majestic, said:
"If my sevent thinks of doing (Intention) a good deed and does not do it, I record it for him as a good deed unless he does it. And if he does it, I record it for him as ten times the like thereof. And if he thinks of doing (Intention) a bad deed and does not do it, I forgive him unless he does it. And if he does it I record it as one bad deed."
The Messenger of Allah (salla Allaahu 'alayhi wa salaam) said:
"The angels would say, "O Lord, this servent of yours wants to do a bad deed." While He ('Azzawajal) knows best about him, would say, "Watch him, and if he does it, then record it as the like of it, and if he refrains from it, then record it as one good deed. Indeed! He will have refrained from it fearing Me."

Narrated by Imam Muslim.

Subhan'Allah! What a beautiful Hadith. How the mercy and love of Allah is so strong. A good deed is recorded 10 times as much in Hasanat! An evil deed is recorded as only one sin! Allah, being so perfect in knowledge and understanding, knew the weaknesses of man, therefore increasing the amount of Hasanat obtained through doing good deeds. Even getting a good deed while thinking of doing something bad but NOT doing it out of fear of Allah. Knowing that the angels whom record our deeds, are watching every step we take in our lives, never removing their blessed eyes from us should be enough to put us in embarrassment when even thinking of doing a sin! Imagine when a pious Muslim catches us looking at something Haram, we feel really ashamed and embarrassed of ourselves when we see them looking! Imagine then, Allah, the Most Pure, watching us 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, 365 days a year, never taking His eyes off of us. If you are thinking of sinning or have this strong urge to do a sin, just remember that Allah (SWT) is watching you, and Angels watching you. You are never alone whereever you may be. You are always being watched, every intention in the heart felt, every action carried out. How will you feel on The Day when Allah reveals the sins that you committed openly and secretly? Praise be to Allah, the Almighty!
