I honestly believe these people should not be entitled to free health care as they put themselves in these situations. I was watching a documentary about over weight people in Britain and how much the NHS spends on them. Some were so big they couldn't shower alone or get out of bed alone. Honestly they put themselves in these situations. Why should tax payers money be wasted on them?

Stupidity makes me grumpy. I pay for my own healthcare, and I pay my taxes, yet I know that doesn't give me the right to dictate how others should live their life. My taxes definitely goes into the Government's bombs that's dropped on innocent people so its safe to say people smoking while being on free healthcare is the least of my concerns.

I do believe I am a grown man in many respects, but I do not wish to display meaningful discussion in a place full of degenerates (not calling you one).

I working in the NHS know full well of the rampant abuse of the system including over prescriptions of antibiotics causing many resistant strains to arise and overweight patients receiving prescriptions for weight loss pills/ exercise classes when there is no metabolic issue or illness causing them to be overweight. The whole organisation needs to change to address prevention rather than treatment after the fact and not allow those who do not suffer from ailments such as diabetes, thyroid and metabolic issues to receive treatment.

You're an American so you'll never know the frustration of going to the hospital and waiting for hours upon hours to be seen because people who could have prevented their illness/sickness are filling up the hospitals.

Or the frustration that the NHS will not fund life saving services for people suffering from illnesses they did not cause upon themselves but are quick to offer free exercise classes for fat people all payed by tax payers money.

I don't know about the UK, but it's usually peoples economic status that determines whether they are overweight or on drugs etc. So, it's more a symptom than a root problem.
