In a written decree, Somaliland (northeast Somalia) told the European representative Mr. Ahmed Mohamed Mohamud to leave the country within forty-eight hours accusing him of meddling with Somaliland's internal affairs.
EU has been working with Somaliland’s government for sometime and had a role in recent elections. Opposition leaders were appalled by the expulsion and asked the president to reverse his decision.

Other reports say the EU is planning to open an office in Jowhar, the federal government's temporary headquarters near Mogadishu.
