My dedication to Sophisticated..

Postby Idman702 » Fri Jul 03, 2015 2:57 am

Dear sophi

How long has it been now? 4 years, 5? Oh god wtf was I doing in slife all those years, but anyways mamacita, you're the coolest, most down to earth person I've ever came across online. I enjoy reading your posts, I miss your topics, it was stimulating to my mind. I like the fact that you're nonjudgmental. I'm not good at with words when it comes to others, lord knows I can talk about myself for hours and hours. Wait is that being self centered? Anyways one day I want to have timbits and Starbucks with you, I hate tim horton coffee, get our nails done.

I dedicate this topic to you my dear, I hope you're having a wonderful Ramadan. May Allah swt accepts your fast and ours. :rose: :rose:

If I could I'd make countless clones of Sophisticate and marry each of them off to Faaraxs just to improve the average IQ of Somalis within a generation.

As Idman said, I am also not that good with complimentary words but I will do better and post this befitting poem for my lovely, intelligent cuzin which the imminent Bashir Goth has dedicated to Borama/Awdalite girls.
She might have been born in Canada and not Borama but it's still composed for and directed at such a rare Diamond like her :rose:

Dagmo Inanta Borama , ee Aloog dusheediyo,
Agagaarka Saw iyo, Awdal Xeebehediyo
Abbasiyo Libaaxlay, iyo Eelo Uda iyo
Qadaw oodihiisiyo beel adhigu daaqiyo
Tagal illimihiisiyo, illihii dhexdoodiyo
Idhankii Dillaad iyo, afka Gaawe lagu dhalay
Waa Ubad xalaalo, biyo aqal samaaliyo
Waalid aad u wacanuyo, dhaqankii udgoona ka abuurmay weeyan
Waa gabad asluub iyo ixtiraamka guud iyo il nugayl haweeniyo
Anshax iyo is wada dhawr ababkeedu uu yahay
Go'e inantu waa inan, ubad weeye hawl fudud
waa gabadh ilkaha qoran, Axdigii ay qaadiyo
Waa naag ammaanadu, sanka oogadiisiyo Kaga taalo meel adag
Gabadh aan schoolka iyo ,aqalkiyo ardaagiyo
Hoyyadeed agteediyo, ka fogaan ardaagoo,Ibtiloonin weeyoo
Jacaylkeedu waa udub, marka lagu abuuraa
Af Soomaligediyo, sheekadedu wa Edeb, wa erayo goo go'an ( How very true ) ahhahaha
Naxariis ilakaha taal, aado iyo huuniyo Waa hadallo uurka ah
waa dareen abyooloo wa xidid arooro
Abtirsii ma deediyo dhaqankeedu uud yahay

Jugjugwacwac and Lamagoodle, our imminent multilingual scholars might be able to help with the translation and the magnitude of this poem

Midadkeedu aale iyo Ubaxii :rose: galoolkiyo
Sida roob arooryiyo waa oogta Waabari
Waa gabadh adeec badan, Ehel weeye reer jecel
Waa hooyo ubadkiyo odaygaba u foogjigan ( Future reference ) :)
Go'e Inantu waa Inan
waa naag udgoon jecel, Gabadh Uunsi garab yaal
Gaarri weeyi aqalkiyo aynigeeda loo bogo
Waa Inanta Borama

LOL
I will give it a try. NB; It is word-for-word translation (almost)

Her creamy colour skin and (as rare as) the lotus of the galool tree
Like the morning rain as if to announce dawn
She is a meek/timid lady. Loves her kin
She is both a great mom and an attentive wife (to her husband),
By Allah, she is a woman!
She loves scents (she has a nose for good scents) . She has the uunsi by her side if need arises
She is spotless (her home is hygienic ). Her home is habitably satisfying
She is the daughter of Borame

Bashir Goth is a poet, a playwright, an intellectual. a jounalist and much more. I used to read his contributions on Awdal News Network years back. By then, ANN was the oasis of intellectuality in a sea of witless.

Good try Lamagoodle, thats more or less the gist of the poem althou English does not do justice to Somali poetry
Lol Do you remember Awdalnews...It was quite the website, not this qashin tabloid of websites that are abound today!
And yeh Ina Goth is a rarity in today's Somali intellectuals...You could literally listen to the guy all day walee and not get bored/tired a min of his sheekos and lectures.

Lama

Care to tell me WHY Somali men find uunsi very appealing? I mean, I can understand the women liking it. It has feminine mystique and power in masking all kinds of smells, feminine smell included. But why do men treat this thing as an aphrodisiac? I mean, is it souly from habit and all women in their lives liking it, starting with their mothers, or there is a potent use for it for men? I don't get it.

You could be right. But I opted for timid/meek because of the context, but the real translation for adeec is actually "to approve/ supportive/ affable . Waa in la adeeca (to be affable/support/ approve).

What happened to Awdal News Network? I published an article there once.

^^ I believe it basically got shut down. After Bashir handed over the editorial helm to some other Gadabursi guys in Canada I believe, and when they refused to publish opinion articles in Somali, it went downhill from there.....Markasay meshu isku dhex yacday and it just died down. Bashir by then was busy with contributing to the Middle Eastern newspapers specially the Emirati ones.
