Mogadishu is a melting pot of different tribes, cultures, and ethnic groups over the years. Tribal customs & bylaws are less stringent with stronger sense of individualism as a result of the diversity and pluralism of the inhabitants.

The more north and interior you travel the less the diversity and greater homogeneity you see and therefore stronger tribal identity.

Walaahi my exact same thought.
I'm 27 and my husband is 31. We have two boys. When we came to mogadishu few weeks ago. The first question my husbands female relatives asked me was " ilmaha ma iska xertey? ( had to ask my husband what it ment as my somali is not up to scratch he said it means do you use birth control?
