The Qatari Riyal is pegged to the US Dollar. It is basically the same exchange rate forever.

LOL, that would be even worse. The Somali Shilling has gained 150% over the past couple of years (deflation). Every month you would be paying more Canadian dollars, Euro, Pound for the same amount of Somali Shilling as of late.

Gulf countries are pegged to the US dollar because crude oil is only traded in USD only. Since the Gulf region economy relies on crude oil, their currencies became linked to the USD.
