FGM is haram in the same way that wilfully blinding yourself or cutting your arm off is haram. The consequences of FGM are disastrous. There is enough evidence pointing to how dangerous this practice is. So don't even try to claim otherwise.

Too many ignorant people try to equate FGM with the ancient practice of trimming the piece of skin off the tip of the clitoris. The 2 procedures have nothing to do with each other and are not equivalent. The latter procedure is harmless and almost unnoticeable.

If the bad outweighs the good, then the practice is not permissible.
