I know that Islam has nothing to do with that barbarity, but try explaining that to those who follow salaf'ism/literalism. That father that murdered his baby daughter? he actually got messages of support from his fellow clerics for being "protective of the honor and purity of his daughter". How is that not religion-based barbarity? They actually believe they have a religious mandate to patrol & police the private part of women, even 4 year olds. Even if they are fleeing a fire in a burning building.

Traditional attitude towards women in Pakistani/Asian culture that has nothing to do with Islam has been rebranded as a "Islamic"/religious issue. All the countries you listed above do not have the same disdainful attitude towards their women, and they are Muslim.

The proper question that should be asked is, did Prophet Muhammad ever committed this so-called "honor killings"? The answer is No. Did Prophet Muhammad ever blew himself up or send his companion to blow themselves up in the midst of children, women and innocent men? The answer is No. THEN why should what few modern-day Muslim individuals wrongfully do have any weight? What they do is clearly un-Islamic and not part of the Sunnah of Prophet Muhammad.
