That was well below the belt, Basra! Now, is that the way you treat with one of your most constant and devoted votaries? If it was socially acceptable to be displeased with dieties, frankly, I could not be more so with you right now.

I lost a lot of money.

The gains I made this year has been wipes out. Overall, I am not in the red (mainly because I have been making some money the last 3-4 years)but just about break even on my portfolio.

I bought 20 000 dollars worth of stocks and mutual funds on Friday last week. I don't even dare check my losses.Painfull

My investments are long-term but I am very worried at what is happening.

Do you believe this is just a bump on the road and the stock market would recover or is it a sign of some serious shit thats to happen?

Dont worry if you are in for the long term, these wont be losses unless you sell, so provided your portfolio is good on fundamentals you should see green long term. What did you buy if you dont mind me asking?

I avoid buying single stocks and instead prefer buying ETFs that reflect an entire segment of the market. The increases are tempered as are the drops. I have done well with the Spartan ETFs but I cashed out when the market dropped to 17500 and faced resistance to go any higher.

I am now going to buy in more at various dips: 15K, 14.5K,

I bought mutual funds (traditional industry , index) and Telecom stocks. I made about 12% on the mutual funs since the begining of the year. I read somewhere on a newspaper that all these has been wiped out. I bought some stocks/funds on Friday. I lost about 3% on that investment but today it gained nearly 4%. SO, I guess for that I am even.

Long-term is my goal but I got carried away last week; I bought them late on Thursday evening and on Friday I lost alot.

The global financial market is interconnected Chelsea4ever. I would argue that once you are part of the system, the halal/haraam dictonomy is irrelevant. Mark my words because I know what I am talking about. Xalaal money is traded in London, NY, and all other financial markets by Xaaram institutions. I had a heated debate once on the so called Islamic banking/finance with people who have no knowledge or guilty of intellectual crime. Islamic banking is part of the global banking system and it seems that some of the actors on the global financial markets have been successful in their marketing ploy.

If you are part of the system you cannot stay out.

They say MONEY HAS NO GOD

Anyway, I invest in old traditional manufacturing industries and mutual funds that follow the closing indexes
