I was just passing by and saw the argument regarding the wedding dress in this thread so this is my take on the issue:

There is nothing more beautiful than your own hiddo & dhaqan. And with that, see y'all later.

I agree with you. Many Somali girls now wear both guntiino & white dress at their wedding day.
Judging by her upper arm, the Blonde girl in the pic is a Xusul Baruur in the making. Put a diraac on that ting and you are good to go.
I didn't realise the term Xusul Baruur applied to Cadaans Xalimos as well.

Roble, holla cuz. Waar niyaw xageed madaxa la gashay, that bloody punaani spot I bet looooooooolImage
I am digging their smilies
Gabadha sariga ku dhagan ayuu is lahaa niyadda u dhis instead ends up advertising two cadaan girls :pac:

That is why I said supposedly Sunna, I am non the wiser. Cigaal is OTT unless you are going to a fancy dress party.

If you don't see what is wrong, then I can't help you.
What about the white dress that most Somali girls where? That has nothing to do with our culture but Somalis seem to think it's OK to wear it. :?

I personally don't live for other people and their opinions so I'd wear what I want to wear.
I don't condone the white wedding dress either but clearly that's a case of apples and oranges. The white wedding dress is worn by everyone on the planet. 99% weddings have a bride and groom in western clothing like suits and dresses. That's true from America to Jordan to China. Lakiin nobody outside of south asia wears a sari to a wedding. It's as retarded as a somali wearing a kimono as a wedding dress.

It's good that you care little about other people's opinions, that doesn't make a Somali woman wearing a sari on her wedding day any less cringeworthy or retarded..
Agreed. Can you see a timo jilac chick saying ima rock Hida iyo dhaqan to my wedding?

White is not less foreign than a sari.It is just more accepted by u lots coz u accept the white man stuff easier.

Wear/listen to and eat whatever the fuck you like.Life is too short to be restricted to what others think you should do.

I know it is supposed to be Sunnah but I cannot wear a Khamis for the life of me. Feel like a charlatan that is aping Ayrabs.

Sunnah doesn't mean wearing the prophet's clothes. Otherwise the entire of humanity would lose their cultural identity and be forced to arabize. I'm pretty Islam is not about arabization.

I think it is a matter of personal taste. Every wedding has a different playlist I been to weddings they played french songs, english songs so nothing wrong with arab songs. Plus arab wedding songs are absolute bangers.

Nothing particularly wrong with this. I know Somali women who listen to Toni Braxton and Mariah Carey. I know other Somali women who listen to Bollywood music. And I know others who listen to Italian music.

It isn't unusual at all and nothing to be concerned about. People are gonna listen to whatever music they want.

Exactly

Islam has nothing to do with Arabization. The Somalis who disagree are nothing more than suck-ups and inferiority complex-ridden Arab wannabes.

I have never been to a Somali gathering where Arabic music is played. Then again I don't go to many places where Somalis gather. I would think most Somalis who do think are either from the Middle East or watch a lot of Arabic daytime soap operas.

Saying the khamiis is a sunnah because the prophet use to wear it is just plain stupid and ignorant , considering the fact that the khamiis was worn by every Arab pagan , jew and zorastrian of that time . the khamiis was never unique to the prophet or Islam.

Imagine if the Prophet lived in the 21st century and he wore jeans just like any other person today and you get people from the year 4000 AD arguing that jeans are sunnah and a religious obligation. It's sound pretty stupid doesn't it ?
