Shiisha iyo Soomaali

Postby Garaad_LQ » Mon Aug 31, 2015 12:51 pm

I'm trying to understand this newly found obsession with shiisha in the Somali community, I remember a decade ago it was unheard of for Somalis to smoke shiisha,
But now , all I hear from Somalis (especially girls) is shiisha this shiisha that , shiisha noo soo gad ,shiisha joint na geey

My family has been living in the Middle East for over a century, since the darawiish wars to be precise, and I never seen or come across anyone in my family who smoke or smoked this shyt , in fact it was a taboo amongst Somalis living in carabta

how did this shyt become a widespread phenomenon in a short period of time???

Badaw wax la baray baan maqli jiray ...

Not just Somalis, other Muslims from various ethnicities seem obsessed with it too. It seems to be the "in" thing these days. But what you're describing waa wax xad dhaafa 'shiisa noo so gad?' must be a North American thing.

I used to smoke real Shisha back in the days of being ciyaal casiir in Arabia,Thank God I quit it 9 years ago in London. Word on the street is that they use wine as Shisha water and add ecstacy in the tobacco hence it is so expensive.

Apparently one hour of smoking Shiisa equals 100 cigarettes, so it's really bad and a lot worse than cigarettes

Doing it occasionally for fun is not bad , but camping outside the shiisha spot waiting for it to open is a different story lol

Shisha lounges are the ultimate hanging out spot, I use to go there to see friends, meet new people and puff on that mint/gum til I was light headed. But I completely lost interest and I think it's dying out compared to when shisha lounges were at their prime 2010-13.
