Nora Barre, a Syrian-American whose family members are suffering in Syria and Turkey, slammed President Barack Obama for his Middle East policies, and said Republican presidential candidate Jeb Bush would do a better job.
“I just wish that [Bush] was president now because if Bush was president now, Iran wouldn’t be in Syria, neither would Russia, neither would Cuba,” Barre told Brooke Baldwin on CNN Friday afternoon. “We wouldn’t have ISIS.”
Baldwin interrupted, saying ISIS was already in the region “in a different form.” Barre, who identifies as an independent and said she voted for Obama, went on to say that the president has “completely abandoned the Syrian people.”
“Everyone is addressing the refugee crisis — why don’t we address the problem of the crisis?” Barre added. “And that’s [Syrian President Bashar al-Assad], ISIS, Russia now. So the Syrian-American community — we’re all behind Gov. Bush. He knows what’s going on. And we’re rooting for him. And we’ll be behind him to get him elected.”
