"In a forthcoming academic article it is estimated that the population of Bantu in the Juba Valley is between 851,206 and 1,571,302 or 6.9 percent to 14.9 percent of the national population.

This is significantly greater than previously understood with implications for the participation of the community in the federal process."

Those in the camps in Kenya are in addition to this.

What the UN knows about the treatment of the Gosha community under Shabaab is "strictly confidential" but "may constitute war crimes." According to this there is a systematic program of disenfranchisement and land grabbing going on.

Zumaale,

I am at page 20 and reading. Thanks bro. This document can enlighten Somalis about what is going on back home. The country is being sold piece by piece by every region with administration. Fishing licenses to China, Oil rights to companies being sold by Federal and Regional Admins alike. Revenues being directed to private bank accounts. It seems to me Alshabaab was doing good service for Somalia inadvertently.

Quantum

AS are not saints as the report also highlights. The use of child soldiers and their forced recruitment for instance. They are also not completely free of clan divisions as some clans turn to AS to settle scores. However, one thing is for sure, there were fewer clan conflicts in areas under their direct control and more order than some parts of the country that are under Amisom/Lapdogs control.

All you need is consistent enforcement of your laws to reduce clan conflicts. When everyone knows they are not above the law and will receive swift punishment.l, they all behave

They cannot expose to the public the strictly confidential content because it would illustrate how hypocritical they are in supporting a fraudulent puppet 'government' that engages in human right abuses.

When reading documents like this, I would advise all of you to remain critical and ask yourselves what the angle of the author is as you would with any piece of writing

Most donations that go to Somalia and the billions of dollars that have been donated to Somalia goes through the UN. Somali governments of the past the TFG and even now the SFG doesn't get the donor money except through the UN. Then consider how many projects there have been or should have been with all that money and what the UN has to show for it today since by all accounts they've been acting as our interim government for 25 years

Where do the billions donated in the name of Somalia go? Because it doesn't go to the government, it is paid to the UN...

Politicians are not trustworthy by design but is the UN?

Ka kaca

btw someone who is international staff in Somalia with 5 years work experience would earn a 6 figure salary (base pay, post adjustment, hardship allowance, hazard pay) all that doesn't include regular business class flights back home, 1 month rest and recovery for every month worked or similar, private schools for their children, healthcare, rent subsidy...

The UN pays better than a lot of fortune 500 companies. They are afterall...

BV, aid agencies are not free of corruption and a job with one of the UN bodies is a means to quickly enrich oneself.

However, some of the issues highlighted in this report are not linked to requests for increased funding and offer a non partisan insight into what goes on in Somalia.
