By the way, Aishah,
I really feel old. I remember when you could not find a somali west of Acton town, NW of Willesden, none in North London. Only in White Chapel and tower hamlets. Good old days . Wales was an exception.

I still remember the day I was living in Notting hill gate and I was helping this somali family to move to Ealing Common. I thought I was in Wales.

How things have changed within such a short period.

Not really. The influx of Somalis into London started late 1990s. In the 1990s Somalis were mainly in the East. I remember The London School of Hygiene & Tropical Medicine looking for partipants in a study and could not find enough Somalis in the west of London. This was the 1990s

I think by then they were very much part of London living every part excluding the cadaan exclusive zones.

acton, southall, ealing, harlesden, wilesden, kilburn, kingsbury, Camden, Kentish town, Tottenham, Edmonton, enfield woodgreen, batersea, ceeldheer, elephant&castle, camberwell, brixton, finchley, whitechapel, mile end, Stratford, eastham, bow road barking, you name it.

The period when Somalis were few in number and were concentrated in small pockets of London was the 70s and the early 80s. I stand corrected. I met old people who
New nothing beyond great Portland street & the east.

Lamagoogdle was in London in the 70s along with nurdiin faarah or may be he is nuurdiin farah himself

Busted

LOL. Nuraddin was in India in the 1970s with his indian wife. I will tell you about London in the early 1990s. Somalis were in the white chapel area. A few in Southwark. The first Somalis in the west of London lived in West Minister Borough; mainly around Paddigton area (bus 18) and in hotels in queen's way area. The somalis gathered around the oval/London Bridge not to watch test cricket but because the SNM had established a small corner office. Aniga cunug yar baan ahaa oo markaasi jaamacad galay. Wales was where Somalis were.

Harlesden maba la degi karin. Stonebridge was drug area. Kingsbury, Tottenham, Edmontn, Enfeld Wood Green was first, F park was first settled by Somalis from Italy.

LOOOOOOOOOOOL at Ceeldhere. You forgot Baydhbo Janaay which borders Ceeldheer; now we are talking about the 2000.

Fincheley( Golders Green was Jerusalem. No somalis.

Mile end yes.

This is when you pull out the belt and get them to work. Where I grew up, you either worked or went hungry. Food was only for workers.
