Things are getting serious in Djibouti and if they don't within the next two years, they will within the next decade.
Every time you have so many rival superpowers on the same spot, they are distant to clash and the host is always the first victim and probably the only victim.
Guelleh allied himself with China for whatever reasons but the Americans already have the biggest base in Africa.
We know the American history and how they fund the weak to remove the visionary. Perhaps Guelleh should have limited the base lease to the US for ten years and refuse to renew. Once they had moved out maybe then he should have brought the Chinese.
But the ngga brought a dragon home while the eagle was nesting on his bed. Halkas wu ku dhacay.
Maybe the Americans have already went to work and plan on unseating Guelleh. If an all out war breaks, they could even arrest him in his own country.
A lot of changed in the region in recent months. Guelleh may not survive for long.
But he achieved tangible results for Djibouti. Before Guelleh Djibouti was just another Khaatumo with a port and already dead railway (stopped in 1990s).
US, China, Japan, France, Ethiopia and the Arabs all in one tiny place...the end result we can all easily predict.
