Only once. I went out on a date with this cambaro I met at a conference. She was my type: young, naive, and Westernized. I am not an inquisitive person because I never ask questions because I don't want to be questioned myself. We went out to the museum and then dinner. Somehow the conversation landed on the topic I dread the most - Who do you know in town? This question is like your phone's GPS except it is to identify you, your clan or relations. I told her that I had no family except my uncle in Delaware. She told me her family and that she had a Habaryar in VA. She then dropped her name.
My world froze.
It couldn't hit me harder because her Habaryar and I had a very bad falling out back in the late 90s. I got bit and every man remembers the one or two crazy women he dates.
I couldn't wait for the night to end and I never got in contact again.
I was so embarrassed and ashamed of myself at the end of the night that I've ignored his texts/calls ever since lol.
