No shia in Somalia , not to my knowledge anyway , nothing to lose . Oman plays the role of mediator between Iranian and Arab dispute . Bahrein , Sudan , KSA, Somalia , it is a good momentum and good positioning from the "skinnies ". All we need to watch in Africa is Sudan , our bigger brothers , everybody from Nigeria to Kenya is tired of Iran on the continent anyway

Why is anybody surprised?

Nothing is free, not even alliance. Saudi Arabia is going to get something from relationship with Somalia whether that be political allegiance or not.

Let me remind you that it was Arabs who stayed on our side all way through Ogaden war in Barre era. Sure, they didn't do much in terms of manpower but they did a lot in terms of money.

Out of all countries in the world Somalia could be friends with, I'd say Somalia picked right one. Iranians might be more reliable and more kind/intelligent but their views doesn't align with us plus Iranians got too many enemies. It will definitely be awkward if Somalia was told by Iran to fight against Saudi Arabia in Yemen war.

A lot of what Somalia sells are to Arabs. Iranians doesn't need Somalia's exports much. Somalia's economy could be in ruins very easily with importation ban by Arab countries.
