This map is wrong. Kismayo was never a swahili city state, it was a well for Bajuuni fishermen who lived on Serpintini off the coast of present day kismayo. The Bajuuni lived on serpintini and only came onshore to Kismayo to get water for their village. As a town it was founded by traders from the Xaafuun peninsula in Bari and pastoralists from places like Afmadow and Bilis Qooqani.

Kismayo is only 140-160 years old.
