i do not think somali governments have that power or authority to ban anything. they only control very small area. plus many make money out of the qaat.

I know they may not implement it even if they pass it, but as the Somali proverb goes salaad weliba xilligeeda ayaa la tukadaa.

Lets see the result, shall we :)

Yes, FGM is on a league of its own. It really baffles me how our grandfathers and grandmothers were convinced to practice something that carries the name of that Shaitan! :mindblown:

But I am happy because the young generation is aware of its problems. It won't be long before it is abandoned.

Its easier for KDF and EDF to leave Somalia than khat be banned.

my humble opinion is, the religious people to issue fatwa about qaat and it's effects to destroy minds, bodies, families and society.

somalis lovce their sheikhs, so better if those religious leaders agree on something about lecture around the cities and do converences.

Cid weliba way ogtahay Sheekhuna xukunka qaatka, cid weliba way ogtahay inaan karfan lagaaga tolayn lacag aad qaad ka samaysay, lkn madax adeyg ayaa meesha ku haya iyo marmarsiyo aan jirin; carruur ayaan ka biilanaa iyo sheekooyin raqiis ah. War carruurtiina risiq xalaal ah u raadiya!

Laakiin weli waan kugu raacsanahay inay culimadu kaalinkooda ka qaataan.
