There is a section in the book about the Satanic Verses incident which allegedly resulted in Mohammed mistakenly being duped by Satan. Of course, Muslims reject the whole affair for understandable reasons. And Rushdie was just stirring things up for no good reason and as usual intolerant Muslims took it to the next level with death threats and hysterical protests.
