AED35 gets you a meal for 2..

AED35 gets you an individual meal in a good resteraunt,
or a single gourmet burger or sandwich.

a macdonalds/burger king meal in AED 15-20.

and noway rent is 700AED,
maybe sharing a room with someone..

i left a year ago after living there for 11 years,
and prices have been going up not down.

Gurey ,,, Abti, I was surprised at how even much fuel costs, 1.50AED per liter? Its way out of control. The same liter here in the US costs just a little more.

I don't know how you did it but my wallet was aching.

Fuel is taxed.
The uae has unofficial taxation that generates allot of money. Fuel, parking, said tolls, uae I'd and visa fees.
There is a land tax 2.5% of rental value as well.

You cannot live there unless you earn more than $3000 a month.

New identification card, health insurance, blood test etc. They're making a killing off unofficial taxation on backs of expats.
