Somalis finally fighting back against the savages

IT STARTED when a customer returned a pack of rotten chicken. But the argument soon exploded into violence, bullets and looting.
ONE PERSON IS ALREADY DEAD AND MANY HAVE BEEN INJURED AND WOUNDED. It appears the battle between Katlehong residents in Ekurhuleni and Somali shop owners broke out because of a pack of rotten chicken. Victor Maphosa (27) from Nhlapo Section, Katlehong said he bought chicken from a shop on Saturday. “When I realised the meat was rotten, I went to the shop to return it but I was attacked,” said Victor.
Victor said the shop owner hit him over the head with a bottle and he lost consciousness. “That was the last thing I remember,” he said.
The residents then gathered and marched to the shop. Alice Msimango (44) said when they confronted the shop owners, they responded with violence. “We had gathered at the shop and demanded to know why they had moered the guy, when they suddenly started
throwing bottles at us,” she said. “The shop owners closed their garage and gunshots started flying from a small opening.” Her 14-year-old son, Bongani, was hit by a bullet. “My son is now fighting for his life.” As the community gathered around Bongani, a white van allegedly carrying Somalis pulled up, and chaos ensued.
The men allegedly opened fire into the crowd. Magdalene Martins (46) said she got shot in the foot.
“I tried to run but I was shot in the foot,” she said. Isaac Mlambo (32), Victor’s friend, said he heard Victor had been assaulted and went to help. “We found him on the ground. As we were calling the ambulance, the van drove through and started shooting,” he said.
He was also shot in the foot. They were taken to Thele Mogoerane Hospital. The community erupted and started looting the shops. Bamanye Ntlantsana (29) was shot in the head. According to Dumisa Mantyi, his best friend, he was shot by people in a white van. Bamanye was also taken to Thele Mogoerane Hospital where he died.
The looting and rioting got out of hand and Public Order Police and the EMPD were called to the scene. Sergeant Oyamo Simao confirmed that 50 shops were looted, and three people were shot. “A fight broke out between the Somali shop owner and the victim. The victim was hit over the head with a bottle. The community started throwing stones when three people were shot. The community started looting shops in the Nelson Mandela and Nhlapo sections. One man was also shot in Nelson Mandela and died in hospital.”
He said a Somalian was arrested and charged with three counts of attempted murder and possession of an unlicenced
firearm. Three residents were arrested. Abdi Rahman, National Director of the Somali Association of South Africa, said he didn’t have any information about the incidents. He said he would comment as soon as he had contacted the shop owners.
It's about time Somalis started fighting back against these savage South African slum dwellers.

This is not a smart move. You are OUTNUMBERED! Ofcourse protect yourself if your life is in danger, but this only fuels more resentment
Their life is in danger ..do you think they did it out of boredom something? And being outnumbered is not a reason to be abused or submissive to savages with no regard for human life.

The customers didnt refrigerate the chicken once they bought it and then they attacked the shopkeepers. The shopkeepers were right to defend themselves. Over the past few years 1,000 Somali shopowners have been killed by these township dwellers.

Fight back is great when you are protecting lives and property, but now 50 shops were looted, a Shopkeeper is charged with manslaughter and he might do time in jail, created an atmosphere of further hatred and hostility towards all the Somalis, what did they really achieve? Replacing or refunding the chicken (few rands) would have been the ideal and smart move. Sometimes, you have to compromise the little issues like refunding "rotten chicken" for the long term success and the only way to succeed is through fostering peaceful coexistence. Now, the rest of the Somali shopkeepers in other shanty towns wil be targeted and rogue police officers might arm some locals to drive them out of the shanty towns.
He should have replaced the damn chicken to keep the peace. It's not a high price to pay doing business in a hostile shanty town.

Ina Adeer, have you read the article? If we go by the article, the client was seeking an exchange or a refund for a "decaying" chicken he bought. The shopkeeper was under no threat. Given that it is a shanty town, the collective interests of the Somali shopkeepers would have been served better if they foster good relations with the locals and this brother refunded or exchanged the chicken with his client. You don't declare war on the people of a shanty town that you want to make money from just for being stingy for the cost of a chicken. It doesn't make any sense from a business or survival perspectives. Tan kale, most of these young Somali business people who own these shops in the shanty towns have experienced war and trauma and lack the skills in dousing the flames of anger and aggression once they are provoked. They should either acquire new skills, the sophistry in doing business safely in a volatile and violent shanty town, or get out of it before they are all slaughtered.
Imagine if the roles were reversed and these South Africans were the owners of shops in Somalia's "most violent areas" and they were perceived as rude, don't care the sentiments and the culture of the local community and greedy, how would they be treated?

Ina Adeer, why will "civilised people" seek asylum among the "savages"? We are experts in making enemies of all races and ethnic groups and yet, we can't get along and make our home safe for all of us to return and build. Think before you label others as savages.

Ina adeer to answer your question simple..self preservation they temporarily moved on to greener pastures. I really don't understand why you are justifying the behaviour of savages that murder and pillage your people every chance they get.
Why are you acting like Somalis brought this on themselves this is not an isolated incident. There is countless killings of your people along with other Africans living in South Africa. Nigerians are fighting back in Durban after they were targeted and murdered. Zimbabweans in Johannesburg are fighting back after they been harassed, attacked and murdered. Are Nigerians, Zimbabweans, Ghanaians and Ethiopians all expert in making enemies too ?
It's about time all these communities said enough and started fighting back. They have every right to defend their lives and businesses that they worked so hard for.
Yes they are savages if the shoe fits, wear it...what else would you call the mob that stripped naked your Somali brother and killed him with cinder blocks in broad daylight.
