Budget 2016: TheFuturist commentary

Postby TheFuturist » Wed Mar 16, 2016 9:13 am

Major changes:

All schools to become Academies. This is more backdoor privatisation.

Sugar tax to be introduced in 2 years time.

Level at which a person starts to pay income tax will go up to £11,500 ($16K) from 2017.

More to come

Could have introduced significant capital-gains tax increases on housing profits. He'd kill the housing bubble in one move, by removing the incentive for people to make BTL property empires as a tax-free investment on their capital. Property profits should be taxed, it's obscene that they currently aren't, and it's one of the key drivers of the housing bubble.

Obviously, he'd never do that because it'd hit their core market far too hard.

Sugar tax? another tax on the poor since the rich eat healthy and the poor rely on a heavy sugar intake to get them through a day of xamaali.

:Heh: Since when has tax affected somali shops. They have the same prices since day one. LMAO, I don't think somali shop owners are sitting infront of tv watching bbc news for the budget.
