Fasten you seatbelts, in a decade or so, if the corporate world succeeds in paying very limited or no taxes at all, the coffers of the State will be depleted and this question will be more relevant to unwind the Welfare State. Welfare would be declared a privilege rather than a Right and people with substance abuse, convicted of a crime and those who are deemed welfare junkies will be denied welfare. Will owning cars be seen as a Right and a necessity of life rather than a privilege? An Alabama republican raised the question that people on food-stamps should be banned from owning cars. Neo-liberalists or free-marketers for the last 30 years had no serious ideological competitors and the idea of the free-market to be more efficient than governments is not only in full swing but is now the norm. Good Governments are now declared only those who conduct themselves like a private company and avoid budget deficits. Their next step is to realise the fruits of their long held ideology of the individual. They argue the individual (tax payer) on h/her own Freewill has to make judgements where their money (Taxes) should be spent. Remember that neoliberalism as an ideology rewards certain people (the well off) and punishes others (poor). The narrative of neoliberalism meritocracy believes that the successful winners should never be penalised, punished and nor forced to financially (via taxation) support those scoundrels who take advantage of the social security system. There are no challengers to Neo-liberalists and they had a negative impact on the welfare state as we know, but now, it is slowly crumbling and vanishing.

Job market is already saturated, private businesses are not dumb, they employ cheap labour force from Eastern Europe, today thanks to technology people movement is easy, they also export work when necessary eradicating would be jobs ! also with technological advancement we have less and less jobs, efficient computers are taking the jobs of the low-education people.
