They should not demonstrate against the monitoring group. They should demonstrate against AMISON. The business model of Amison. Most African countries do not have the budget to arm and sustain an army and places like Somalia gives them opportunity to not only arm and fund their military but also to keep soldiers at bay. Why should Amison want peace in Somalia when there soldiers are trained, armed and paid for by the international community?

Amison out of Somalia!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

 The current situation in the south is nothing short of colonisation. Amison has the manpower and the firepower to annihilate al-shabaab but they choose not to since that wouldn't be profitable.

The SFG doesn't pay the salaries of its soldiers on time because they are too busy filling their own pockets, despite the fact SNA soldiers are payed 1/8 of what Amison receives, which is a measly amount. Sometimes, I think that the West are deliberately fuelling the conflict until they have an opportunity to send their evil multinational companies over to pillage our natural resources.

I wonder how much they were paid by HSM's cartel? :Puhlease:

It ain't like what the the UN Monitoring Report states is unknown to the informed skinny. A few Maryooleys with placards cannot stop the truth from being told.

Lama+Geeljire

Don't blame Amisom for playing their game, the blame squarely lies at the feet of Skinnies. Take Amisom out of the equation and watch AS regain the upper hand in South Somalia. The International Community cannot trust the SFG with money or weapons. Wasn't it just a week or two ago that the AS was able to get hold of weapons from a government base that is a stone throw away from Mogadishu without the so called SNA putting up a fight? Y'all talk of building a potent SNA that can fight AS without foreign assistance but the truth of the matter is that without reconciliation, Somalis will be turning those same weapons against each other to further their own clan agenda as has already been illustrated.

Zumaale, you could be right but Al-shabaab feeds on their presence (In particular, Kenya and Ethiopia). As a matter of fact, neither Kenya nor Ethiopia is providing cover for the Federal government in Xamar where the it is located. As long as Kenya and Ethiopia are in Somalia, Al-shabaab will be strong. And if we are to blv what we read and hear, Amisom forces are in their garrisons in Xamar where the government is located. They have a presence in the countryside but their operations are dwarfed by those of the qabiil based armies. When the al-sheydhaans engage in heinous crimes in Xamar, it is always the Somali units that lead the assault. In the countryside, the Kenyans/Ethiopians use the somali (tribal ) armies to lead assaults.

A possible solution could look like this:
a) Get Kenya and Ethiopia out first (This is supported by a policy document I read recently)
b) Then the rest except the Djiboutians.
c) Arm the somali armed forces and bring them under Djibouti command.

The Djibouti army is a somali army, same religion, language and culture.

Uganda, Burundi and Kenya are getting a free ride in Somalia; their troops are paid, trained and armed by the international community.

Al-sheydhaans are everywhere in Somalia; the reason why they are not attacking other places than the south is because there are no foreign soldiers; take Kenyans/Ethiopian regiments to anywhere in Somalia and before you know it Al-sheydhaan will establish presence. The link is almost causal.

I will have to disagree with you there.

When AS attack targets in Mogadishu they do so with small units that can easily be overcome by native Somali forces. However, AS were ousted from parts of the countryside in LJ,LS, Gedo, Hiiraan, Bay and Bakool by the heavy weaponry of Amisom. Local Somali forces just augmented these troops but without the tanks, armoured vehicles etc of Fufusom they would not have gained an inch. As a result, AS have a adopted a policy of tactical withdrawals as demonstrated by their retreat from Barawe, Kismayo, Bardheere........ In Mudug and Galgudud, AS are contained by clan militias (ASWJ and Galmudug) that are opposed to AS along clan lines. However, in areas where the local populace support AS such as Ceelbuur, these clan militias could not dislodge them and it was Papa Gabre's boys that captured Ceelbuur.

AS has not been able to expand in the North because there was little instability for them to take advantage of and the clans there (Isaaq, Gadabursi, Harti) are a cohesive unit that have better governance. Thus, it is hard for them to get a foothold in the North as the recent conflict with Puntland evinces; the masses were mobilised in support of their militia.

I agree that Fufusom are not genuine in seeking to cleanse South Somalia of AS but the corrupt SFG cannot be relied on by the International Community. The only way to fight AS is to militarily strengthen willing clans in their native deegans to fight AS as the Ethiopians did with the Cayr, Surre and Mareexan ASWJ but that requires a desire on the part of the clan in question. To arm an SNA that is not representative of all Somali clans is a disaster waiting to happen.

I would prefer if the West became directly involved with boots on the ground because AS would be promptly annihilated as their troops are not Gaajo like the Fufus who feel that they have hit the jackpot with the Somalia Mission. However, Somalia ain't that important for them to commit troops. Unlike Afghanistan, we are a low priority conflict that is only fit for Fufusom.
