The whole thing is called gabay but gabay breaks into several categories based on the structure and its format.

Maanso is one of the children of gabay the other being jiifto.

Songs are gabay too.

Then you have geerar and buranbuur.

Good example of geerar is Abdillahi Suldaan Tima Adde's kana siib kana sar. It's structure is different to gabay/maanso. Himself he says for sometime now he hasn't touched maanso aka masafo. He equally explains the rules of maanso namely habdhac iyo xaraf la raaco (kala qabsigu lee yahay iyo subuxda dhadheere). So maanso is based on two rules.

Here is one of my favourite called Waxan ahay macaan iyo qadhadh by Ahmed Ismail Diriye "Qasim".

Dacartuba mar bay malab dhashaa, muudsataa dhabaqe;
Waxaan ahay macaan iyo qadhaadh, meel ku wada yaalle.
Midigtaydiyo bidixdaydu waa, labo mataanoode.
Midi waa martida soora iyo maato daadihise.
Midna waa middiyo xiirayiyo mur iyo deebaaqe.
Masalooyin talantaalliyaan, maandhe leeyahaye.
