Turkish PM Pledges Secularism to Be in New Constitution

Postby Machiavelli2 » Wed Apr 27, 2016 3:54 pm

“In the new constitution which we are preparing, the principle of secularism will be included as one guaranteeing individuals’ freedom of religion and faith, and the state’s equal distance to all faith groups,” Davutoglu said in a speech to members of his ruling AK Party.

Historically, Turkey has always been a secular county. Things have changed when the Islamic leaning Erdogan came into power. Thats when Turkey started having problems and getting all these negative news in the west.

Erdogan needs to go back to how things were before.

I agree,Islamist Ideology is the perfect ground breeding for suicide bombings in public places.

The AKP under Erdogan would have introduced & implemented some sort of shariah laws slowly and incremently if they didn't clash with the Gulen movement. Now, they have rifts with two powerful establishments, the secularists and the Gulen movement.

AKP has always been seculars. In my view, their crocodile tears about Islam were all smoke screen for the destabilization that Turkey was going to be part of. Until you see the fall of Constinople, their treacherous schemes will continue.

P.S. there are Muslims in Turkey but the establishment that runs that country have always been anti Muslims.

GAMES / Blood, quit associating suicide bombings with Islam. The only people who bomb Turkey are Kurds, and their grievances are nationalist and not Islamic.

If Erdogan manages to change Turkey's constitution to stop islamic persecution, than they have gained a huge victory.

Sultan

Ina Adeer, he did that and a bit more like rescinding the laws that banned Muslim women wearing the Hijaab in government owned universities and in the public service. However, those who accuse of him of political persecution like the Gullen members or the opposition who point to his admnstration's graft has also merit. Senior Police officers who arrested corrupt officials including the family members of senior administration officials were either sacked or arrested themselves. It reminds me of George Orwell's Animal Farm.

The islamic facade and the spat with ISreal over gaza flotilla fooled all of us.
We thought here comes sultan erdogan, mashalla..

The Syrian debacle , blatant support of ISIS,
and the kissing and making up with Isreal changed all that.

Turkey and ISreal are like a married couple that resolved their differences after a fight,
and they are now having makeup sex.

Further secularising turkey is good for the countries prospects of someday day being accepted in to the EU
