Why Does Haiti Want To Join the African Union (A.U)?

Haiti to join the African Union? Why not.

Maybe, they are scratching their heads and saying, if Burundians can make a buck out of Somalia, so can we. Or, brothers and sisters coming home?

African Union is for African countries. What's the logic
behind bringing a Caribbean country into this failed union?
Better change it into B.U Black Union. Shit turned like Arab League where several member countries don't speak Arabic.

I'm skeptical. The African union should be for those people who choose to live on the continent for richer or poorer and during the many years of its historical prosperity why did Haiti not join us then? Haiti is struggling and probably wants to join purely for economic purposes. Possibly as a means of extracting more funds in the form of Aid and the clearing of debts.
Having said that, the freedom fighter in me greatly respects Haiti's history and in particular reveres Toussaint louverture as an excellent military strategist. My heart wants to see this as fellow brothers/sisters returning to the bosom of mother Africa. However, quite often as it is in life a child only ever returns to the family home when in some sort of deep and spiritual finantial crisis.
I don't think we should admit them on the principle that they have not been geographically, physically and historically part of the African struggle (though they greatly inspired its independence). Besides where would we draw a line in admission to the AU? Does this mean that the sons of all former Slaves also have a right to a peice of Africa? I say no. Africa should belong to those who live, breath and reside there.

They already became a member of AU i believe,its 4 years old news.

Somalia is in the Arab League, so what is all the fuss about Haiti joining the African Union? Having said that, I don't think the AU will allow Haiti to join, if for no other reason, simply, because, they don't want add yet another poverty stricken country to vie for the continent's dwindling yearly food aid from wealthy nations.
