He is being elected to a secular parliament in a non-Muslim country where the conditions of success are to exchange support for each others policies. Pragmatism deduced from current social sentiments or the current popular sentiments takes over and inturn, they negotiate what is best for their electorates in supporting others on a give and take basis. Scratch my back and I will scratch yours. Muslim MP's aren't the only ones in parliament who have to negotiate within themselves to support policies which may contradict their beliefs. That's the price you have to pay if you are running for office in a secular non-Muslim country even as a local councillor. Most of the laws that passes through secular parliaments or the local councils contradict the spirit of all religions.

The question should really be ...How many of you living in the west would say you oppose gays openly to your boss, co-worker, teachers or fellow students. I would guess the majority of us would keep that to ourselves because we don't want to look like bigots. And people that would call Sadiq Khan a hypocrite or a sellout.

1. Need to ask yourself what country do you live in? And 2. does that country allow gay marriage...if so why are you living in a country that allows deviant immoral practices.

You're right. I support same-sex marriage. A sell out is someone who goes against his principles to gain something. I did say above I think that he might actually be pro same sex marriage. If that's the case, he's not a sell out.
