We Somalis are not black i dont care if people disagree with me we are Cushitic people with different culture and blood, any Somali that say they're black are in denial and needs a reality check. People who are "black" are of sub saharan descent which we are not yes we are darker skinned but so are sri lankans and southern indians but are they black? no. I agree....and i think that when you make your arguments without disparaging other groups it will be easy to understand where you are coming from. I for one used to sort of regard people from that continent as having some kind of kinship but in more recent years i have come to realize that in fact africans can be just as distant from each other and have hatred for each other just as any other group.

I am much more of an individualist i.e. i think most people should be free to choose who they want to identify with....but then again i am of the west and so individualism is important to me. It not be as important to you. Again once you state your case without vitriol i think you can easily get people to see your point of view.

Btw many people think of somalis as arabs as well....are you similarly offended when this happens or is identifying with arabs more tolerable since you share much of that culture e.g. religion, clothing, music etc.

Personally worked with blacks, they do harbour hatred, it is predicated on jealousy and sour experiences with Somalis, so don't forget what that new found hatred is coming from, just be intelligent guys. We can't stop the ignorant from being ignorant, this goes for all blacks including Somalis.

How am i belittling other people when all im doing is correcting somalis who think theyre black i never said anything offensive. Somalis are not arab i dont get offended as much as i used to if people think were Arab because we share the same religion and have similair culture.
