I didn't know giving zakat feels this amazing

Postby BVSNet » Sat Jun 04, 2016 7:27 am

I am a grown woman but this is my first time paying zakat, don't judge me, hooyo has been paying on my behalf

But seriously when you sit down and count up all your savings, really think about things you have kept or invested in or bought for rainy days, alxamdulillah. That in itself calms you down. Then to willingly give a portion of this rainy day/savings pot/investment to someone else. To actually pass on your effort and what Allah gave to you and hope it makes a difference to someone else. To know that you are doing something which you have been asked to do, not because you have to but because you want to

This is a spiritual high, if you've never done it before, (and I don't mean paying a bit of money to help somene out) I mean the proper way of counting everything you have put aside and donating 2.5% then you really are missing out. Give it a try

How much does the Somali government currently collect in tax? 2.5% is not much but as a society if we had a zakat fund I am sure it would do more than just help the less fortunate, it would help us all, especially the givers

I've had and do still have charity direct debits and I think we all at some point or other have given sadaqa but this feels different. To me at least, it feels a lot more "on purpose" if that makes sense, you are the one with the calculator, you haven't been asked to give X amount for the abaar or money hasn't gone out of your account without you even noticing

It's simultaneously a reminder of what Allah has given you and at the same time showing that gratitude by giving a little bit of it back. I guess it's like sooriyo, you don't keep all of it but just better :pac:

Looool

Don't waste your money walaal. It is all a big fat nonsense. I have literally wasted so much on charity yet I haven't recieved the advertised goodness and barakat associated with it.

Even with regular sadaqa I personally see the benefit but I do tend to be an optimist

I'm talking about the 2.5% zakat. I guess like everything after your first time you get jaded
