What is going on? Please explain.

Siad barre joined Somalia to the Arab league during his time as president, due to close relations with the arab countries.

Because Somalis think they are all arab decendants.

But that doesn't really justify joining the Arab League. KSA have close relations with the USA, heck they're even allied, and yet you don't see them wanting to join NATO, do you.

I didn't realize your were looking for ideological reasons for joining, I thought you were asking how it happened administratively. Why we are in the Arab league is beyond me aswell.

We need to be there to get money and support from arab countries its a good idea

I didn't realize your were looking for ideological reasons for joining, I thought you were asking how it happened administratively. Why we are in the Arab league is beyond me aswell.

Somalis are not f-king Arab. We just had close ties to them because of our geographical proximity. When will people realise that Arabs think we're monkeys?

But then again, I can't blame them for thinking that.

But the Arab League is for Arabs, and we're not Arabs.

From the Arab point of view, geographic reason.
