After the failed coup, turkey has been accusing the west and the us in particular of being supporters and helpers of the coup. Russia on the other hand apparently gave turkey a warning prior to the coup. If this spreads further, then it would be in both of their interests to keep a closer relationship. Turkey may even potentially change their position on syria if things hit the fan with the US, and EU states. That is politics at its finest moment. They can bilaterally cooperate, Turkey needs gas and the Russian Tourist $$$ and both can still be on opposite sides of the Syrian civil war. A Machivellian politics. Countries don't have permanent friends or enemies, but only permanent interests. The moral of this story is, don't fuck up your country and rely on others to rescue you.

Ina Adeer, it's too early to speculate that this move was intended towards the U.S because the Americans have a base in Turkey and NATO has its own base. The Turks very well know that the U.S will never extradite the Gullan leader back to Turkey. In my humble opinion, this action is based on economics. If the Turkish economy collapses, so will the ruling Party''s support among the populace. After the failed coup, turkey has been accusing the west and the us in particular of being supporters and helpers of the coup. Exactly! Its a trap. I hope the russians dont trust this snake as long as he is a member of Nato

Yeah he's in trouble and is getting the Chaves treatment. Remember Chaves had a coup put against him and the public in Venezuela put him back in power just like Erdogan now. As they say history repeats itself and Erdogan is now running to the Russians as he was back stabbed by the West just like ChavezMuch respect for Sultan Erdogan, i did not expect this.
I fear for his life though,
The hegemon does not take disobedience lightly, sooner or later he will feel their wrath.
I do not think Putin can save him..

He finally saw the light.
Or maybe he came across one of Imran Hosein's lectures on YouTube?
