I concur.The early European explorers to Somalia were not trained linguists so they transcribed the names they heard to the nearest approximation using their various European scripts. We can recognise these names and transcribe them using our current script if the name is not too garbled.
In this case, those who recognised Samawota as Samawada are correct.
On the second name Donati, my own guess would be Doonato, which is a female Somali name.
Samawada Doonato, not an unusual combination of two female name, the practice is still alive though the name combinations are now of Arabic origin eg Caasha Luul etc.
