In the height of Somalia civil war, I served in tolka militia and fought in couple of major qabiil wars. I was even awarded the coveted Bloody Heart Medal for valour.

I bear witness seeing my Abti Barbossa being captured when he and the remanents of his militia the Dafoorqiiq surrendered en masse after a devastating defeat near the Mugambo bridge in L. Jubba. He started conveniently remembering his rer abti and started name dropping them to his USC captors. Hooyo made me fetch him much to the chagrin of my homies

Pretty much every male in my family has served in the army, many fought in the Ethio-Somali war, some where higher ranks stationed abroad for training or even some trained the qataris, during the civil war some of my uncles fought in Kismaayo against SSDF, SPM and USC

2 of my uncles were captains. My grandfather fought in 77-78. And also, I have an uncle that was an officer somewhere in SL, I forgot the location. He was murdered during the well planned SNM coup along with other unsuspecting officers.

I have other relatives that served in the army but they didn't have any glamours ranks.

AW, I find it most amazing how after the elapse of nearly quarter of a century, your detailed recollection of the events of that fateful day in the autumn of 1992 still remains so remarkably vivid.

your're father and uncles were chased demoralized and embarrassed by the noble and brave men of the SNM which my father and uncles were a part of. Your kin remain lowly and disoriented with no free and democratic land to call their own while me and my kin enjoy the easily earned fruits of their labor. SNM, kings of men .
