He united warring, unruly Somali tribes under a central govt via iron fist. He was ruthless on religious extremists. The best leader of all time. Sorry Mj, but kaablalax Darood is thrown out of the window when it comes to Jaalle Siyad. I salute Sade Marexaan for producing such a great leader.

I have to say--I agree. Baare was wise beyond his years. When he killed all trouble makers from various qabil---he was preventing what have today, which is permanent chaos. How can u reason with a nation built of the politics of camels and tribes? Saudi Arabia are lucky to have a united tribal factions due to the monarchy. Somalia had its President Baare! :X

I respect all the opinions about Barre regime, but nobody can deny that he killed a lot of innocent people and destroyed Somali state.

How many innocent people? Also, state your sources.

If he didn't kill those people, then Somalia would have collapsed earlier and millions of people would become refugees and hundreds of thousands killed by Somalis and even more hundreds of thousands starved to death.

Either you kill 50,000 who threaten all of the above and more, or 500,000 people die. Today, you have a rebel group being formed with the support of clans and 100 ministers against a democratically elected government even though it holds no power, even though Al Shabab yield the most strength in koonfur, even though without AMISOM there would no longer be a Somalia, even though they've been killing each other for nearyl 30 years and displaced millions with another 500,000 dead. If death and anarchy for 27 years, democracy and dictatorship does not make the Somali happy, then what will?

I don't believe in the 50,000 death count, the number I'd very exaggerated.. I believe having a president with an iron fist is best for Somalia. You can't control Somalis who are loyal to their clan,

I always support siad barre but somalia is a lost case and we are cursed..

I don't think we can unite in this century.

I'm describing Hawiye, Darood, Isaaq and Dir. These clans before Somalia had no concept whatsoever of Islam, or Somalinimo and only butchered each other and stole each others camels ever since it has been domesticated. Culturally, all these clans are identical due their shared nomadic background. If you're not from these nomadic clans, and are Somali, then it doesn't describe you. These four clans only care about their clan interests, they will rebel against a democratically elected leader or a dictatorship if it goes against their clan interests, they will ally with kuffar if their clan benefits from it. They must be tamed, there is simply no other solution else they'll revert back to their natural habitat and culture. They must be constantly whipped back to submission.

You can't keep your daroodist propaganda straight in one page .

If isaaq darood hawiye only ever worked for their interest. What does that make of afweene and his daroodist regime ?

Son of boli qaran, Isaaq fought for their right so did the hawiye. Stop being coward and admit darood were wearing the state shirt when they committed their atrocites.
